Sneaking a couple of shots of the typical Cairo folks across from this juice bar |

This young girl was an Emirate Air flight attendant who, when she walked around in town by herself was getting pinched, yelled at and pushed around. I saw her sitting there in tears and told her to trust me and walk around with me. It was close to the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and sweet shops were packed. I took her into the midst of it all, and no one said or did anything. If they had, it would have been an honor issue with serious consequences. She did not understand this. It can get quite tough for an unaccompanied Western girl in any Muslim country, other than maybe Turkey, and there probably only Istanbul, and with Erdogan in power, pushing the country toward an Islamic Republic, soon not anymore either.. |

Which was why, to prove the point, I took the young blond right into one. I took one picture and then the watcher in the back waved for me to not take any more. No problem. |
